We offer multiple extended programs after school hours. These programs run in two sessions during the school year so that families don't have to commit to them for the full school year. The programs below can be combined in many different ways to build an enhanced school schedule that matches the child's development level and specific needs.
Butterfly Club: Lunch & Play
Daily 11:45a-1:30p
Butterfly Club is a chance for the children to enjoy lunch together followed by either outdoor play time (indoor play time if the weather is bad) or art time. Many parents find this a wonderful way for their kids to end their school day before coming home. Children can sign up for Butterfly club 2, 3 or 5 days a week during each session. If there are any openings in Butterfly Club during a session then these spots are made available for drop ins.
Enrichment Classes
1:30-2:30p
Enrichment classes also run in two sessions through the school year. The subjects vary each session and minimum enrollment must be met in order for the classes to take place. Subjects include (but are not limited to): cooking, art, water colors, french, storytelling, music and movement and science. Children can enroll in as many or as few classes as they wish for each session but drop-ins are not allowed for enrichment classes since the lessons often build upon each other.
Many of our 2 and 3-Day children attend Butterfly Club followed by Enrichment class on the days that they do not attend normal classes in the morning. This gives them lunch, play and learning time from Noon-2:30p which is a great compliment to their regular school days. Many of our older 5-Day children attend enrichment classes after their regular program ends because they are ready for the longer school day and additional learning time.
Summer Programs
Mariposa offers a summer school program that runs late June through mid-August. The sessions are each a week long and run from 9:15a-12:45p five days a week. Families can enroll their children for as many week-long sessions as they would like. Each session has a theme and includes more art and playtime than the children get during the general school year. The children have time in the classroom with the Montessori materials and they bring their lunch to eat together daily.
