Munawar Ahmed

Munawar was born and raised in India. Munawar earned her Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from India in 1982. Munawar moved to the United States after she got married in 1984 to live with her husband, Basheer, an engineer who has been working in the Semiconductor industry in the Silicon Valley for 24 years. They have two daughters and a son, Sana (20), Salman (18) and Fareeha (12). When her children were in pre-school, elementary and middle schools she was fortunate to be a stay at home mom and enjoyed volunteering in their schools. Munawar’s experiences volunteering at the pre-school allowed her to find the work that she most enjoys. Munawar enjoys cooking, eating exotic Indian food, walking and spending time with her family and friends.

Munawar received her Early Childhood Education certificate from UCSC extension in 2003 and worked for a very short period of time with child care careers. Munawar began working for Mariposa, Willow Glen in 2003 as a classroom assistant. The Montessori environment, which respects, honors, and celebrates the individuality of each child and the great Mariposa staff inspired her to pursue the Montessori training course. Munawar obtained her AMI certification in 2005 from the Montessori Teacher Training center of Northern California, Mountain View while she was still working as an assistant teacher in Willow Glen. This is her fifth year at Mariposa and year after year, she enjoys all of the children, their work, their individual expression and the way they grow and change. Munawar is so happy and blessed to be a part of great community at Mariposa and she is excited about her new experiences here at Mariposa, Los Gatos and looks forward to continue seeking the great in the child and helping it blossom.
