Heather Contreras
Heather was born and raised across the state of California. After High School she attended Cal Poly State University in the beautiful town of San Luis Obispo, California. There, after several years of hard work, she received her BS in the study of Child Development and a Minor in Psychology. Having a passion for children ever since she was a child herself, Heather continued her education by studying the works of Maria Montessori, which were briefly introduced and passionately ingrained during her college coursework. She attended the Montessori World Education Institute in Cambria, California. After nearly two years studying the "Montessori Method" Heather was bursting with enthusiasm and anxious to start sharing her new passion. She moved up to Los Gatos with her husband Daniel and immediately started working for Mariposa Montessori. This is Heather's fourth year teaching at Mariposa Montessori as a Teacher. She has also taught summer school for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 summer school programs at Mariposa Montessori. Other than teaching she has trained athletes as the head Track and Field Jumping Coach at the Los Gatos High School for four seasons. Track and Fields has been a part of her life from Elementary School to High School, where she was the California State Triple Jump Champion in 1999, to her scholarship received from Cal Poly; so having the opportunity to spread her knowledge about the sport as a coach seemed the natural course to take. Outside of school Heather loves spending time with her husband of now four years and their dog Buttercup whose now one 2.5 years old. As a family they love to spend time on the beach, laying, playing and having bonfires. Heather is ready to work hard this year following your children's needs and supplying them with the challenges that will keep them loving to learn and constantly striving to reach their full potential.
