Donations for Japan

During the 2010-2011 school year in the months of May and June Mariposa Montessori Families came together to bring smiles to children in Japan. Four large boxes filled with donated items such as stickers, activity books, gift bags, card games, gummy vitamins, band-aids, toothbrushes and floss with children's designs on them were packed and shipped off to help victims of the earthquake and resulting tsunami. Cash was also donated to help with shipping costs. This humanitarian effort was a wonderful way for our children and families to help out those children in such great need. Thank you to everyone who donated!

A thank you note from Noriko Sato in Japan

Hello!  I’m Noriko Sato living in Shiogama, northern part of Japan.  I really appreciate your wonderful gifts.  The parents of children who received the gifts were also very happy.  They were saying, “We haven’t seen such a beautiful gift before!”

Many areas in Miyagi prefecture had various types of damages.  Those gifts you sent brought smiles not only to children, but also to their parents trying to provide ordinary, joyful daily life like before to their children.

Thank you so much, again.

The places I delivered your gifts are the followings:

     - Shelter in Ishinomaki (age: 0-8):  Coloring sheets, stickers, toys, and toothbrushes

     - Children’s shelters (age: 3-18): Toothbrushes, stickers, and stationeries

     - Tohoku International School:  Big crayons

     - Shelter for special needs children:  Small crayons and stickers
