Hillari Zighelboim - President
Hillari joined the Mariposa Board of Directors in 2017 and took on the role of President in 2018. She has a BS in Marketing and over 20 years of sales, sales training, and product development experience, mostly in the medical device industry. She is currently a full time mom to three boys, Bennett, Cameron, & Grant, and is in the process of starting a business in the health and wellness space. Hillari is a native Californian and has lived in Los Gatos for 4 years with her husband Andy and their boys.
Heather Gibson - Vice President
Heather’s 14-year career in the Life Sciences and Clinical Trials fields focused on ensuring company-wide adherence to processes governed by the SEC and FDA, as well as industry requirements such as those governed by GCP, GLP, and GDP. As the Senior Quality Systems Manager at a Contract Research Organization, she was responsible for process design and key controls development and implementation from the senior management level downwards. Additionally, she conducted internal and external audits, authored standard operating procedures in all functional areas, and managed the Quality Systems Management functional area.
Currently she is initiating a horticultural program and developing an Outdoor Learning Area at Mariposa, and recently launched her own jewelry design business.
Jenny Lynn Fountain - Treasurer
Jenny grew up on a working cattle ranch and farm in rural Alabama gaining a deep appreciation for nature, sustainability, animal husbandry and hard work. She earned her bachelors degree from the University of Alabama with a double major in English Literature and French Composition and a minor in Law, Public Policy and Society. After college, Jenny continued her education at Emory University School of Law earning her Juris Doctorate in 2002. Upon graduation from law school, Jenny accepted a 2 year federal clerkship with the Honorable Leslie Tchaikovsky (ret.) at the United States Bankruptcy Court. After her clerkship, Jenny enjoyed a successful legal career in corporate restructuring, and commercial litigation.
Currently, Jenny enjoys the rewards of raising her children, spending time outdoors, cycling, hiking, yoga, reading, playing the flute and ukulele, and, as time permits, pursing volunteer opportunities on civil rights, child advocacy and environmental legal cases.
Brita Sieve - Secretary
Brita has been a board member at Mariposa for the past two years and works around the clock with her three young children. Previously, she was a sales, marketing and business development professional with over 15 years of experience and a background in consulting, media and financial services. She has served as a strategic advisor and consultant to private companies with clients ranging from founders of early-stage ventures seeking capital to CEOs and management teams of later stage, pre-IPO companies. She has her MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and her BA from University of Puget Sound.
Brita was formerly President and Treasurer of her graduate school’s alumni association (New York Chapter), Chair of the Thunderbird New York Private Equity & Venture Capital Forum and a Board Member of NYBSC (New York Business School Clubs).
She enjoys golf, tennis, skiing and is a certified Pilates Instructor.
Samantha Petovello - Community Chair
Prior to being a stay-at-home parent, Samantha had a successful international career in Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) focused in the Oil & Gas and Mining industries. While work in HSSE tends to lean towards auditing and compliance, Samantha was able to focus her areas of expertise to include developing safety culture (communication, establishing common values and goals), team development, leading through change and database implementation. She possesses a BSc from the University of Calgary as well as a NEBOSH International General Certificate (with distinction).
Samantha enjoys exploring the outdoors and life as a hobbyist potter.
Sam Petke - Fundraising Chair
Leila Bahreinian - Member At-large
Leila Bahreinian has joined the Mariposa Board of Directors in September 2018. Professionally, she has over 15 years of experience in medical device and digital health product development, product management, and enterprise management. Most recently she has been the Vice President of Medicaroid, Inc. in the US since its inception in 2014, which is a Japan-based Surgical Robotic startup and has led building and growing the enterprise. She is shifting her career to start her own venture in Digital Health while independently advising and consulting with other digital health and medical device startups. She has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Toronto and is a Stanford Biodesign alumna.
Leila is mother of 3 children: a middle schooler, one in Mariposa Kindergarten, and one joining Mariposa preschool in 2019. Leila enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids, reading, and writing with occasional poetry translations. Leila is Iranian-American and has been living in the Bay Area with her husband Mehrdad and her children since 2006.
Kirstin Dawson - Member At-large
A graduate of the University of Delaware, Kirstin started her career in healthcare marketing over 15 years ago. While employed as the client services lead at various NYC advertising agencies, she was responsible for leading the strategic commercial planning and development for pre-launch and launch marketing efforts across multiple disease states, which resulted in award-winning, results producing work. Having relocated to the Bay Area in the summer of 2017 with her husband and their two young daughters, Kirstin is currently the Vice President, Managing Director of the San Francisco office for the global branding firm, Addison Whitney (a Syneos Health company).
Kirstin joined the Mariposa Board of Directors in August 2018 and cites the Mariposa community and the school’s caring and passionate teachers for enabling a seamless transition for her eldest daughter from her east-coast Montessori toddler classroom into Mariposa’s PreK-1 program.
